College of Science and Engineering (CSE) Labs and Computer Science and Engineering (CS&E) users are eligible for free printing in any of our labs that have a printer available, as long as you haven't exhausted your print quota. For instructions on how to print from a Windows or Unix workstation, check out Windows Printing and Unix Printing. If you are trying to print in Walter 103, please see Printing in Walter 103 for more details.
If you have an active CS&E account, you are eligible to print to our printers from your laptop as long as you are connected to the CS&E network. Please see Printing from a Laptop for more details.
If you would like to print to the office color printer, there are instructions on how to do so on Office Color Printing. If you would like to print to the poster printer, take a look at the Poster Printer page.
If you are a CS&E Grad student, you have the option of printing to the Grad Lab. Please check out Graduate Student Printers page for more information.
Call down to the Operator Office using the red phone and let them know which printer in what lab is out of paper. Someone should be up shortly to refill it.
Contact the operator either by phone or email requesting new toner. Be sure to include the printer name and location. During operator hours, new toner should arrive shortly. Do not attempt to remove the toner yourself.
Do not attempt to fix the printer yourself. Call or email the operator so that a systems staff member can come fix it. Attempting to service it yourself is strictly against departmental policy and can void our warranties; we have had serious damage to printers in the recent past due to this.
If you encounter problems with the printers in the CSE Labs, send e-mail to operator [at] cs.umn.edu for assistance.
If you are having problems finding the printer name in your lab, check out the Printer Names page.
