Printing from Laptops on the CS&E Network

Get Credentials for Printing

You will need to be on a UMN network for laptop printing. You will need to be on UMN Secure, have a CS wired connection, be on the UMN VPN, or be on the CS VPN.

Windows 7

Printing from personal laptops is very similar whether you are connected using wireless or the wired network in Computer Science and Engineering (CS&E). Follow the instructions for Windows Printing. You will be prompted to sign in with your username and password. Please use cs\< username> for the username and your Windows password for the password.

If you have any questions or are having any problems, please email operator [at] cs.umn.edu .

Troubleshooting

If printing stops working, there are several things you should try:

  • Delete and re-add the printer. This will fix some authentication issues which may come from removing your laptop from the CS&E network.
  • Make sure this is the printer you intend to print to. Double check the name and the location of the printer.
  • Check the printer for any printing problems

If you have any questions or experience any problems, please send e-mail to: operator [at] cs.umn.edu .
