Course Resources

We offer tools available to students and TAs in CSE courses for grades, forums, assignment submission, and course websites.

Moodle

*Please Note: Starting with the Fall 2012 semester, GRIT, Submit, and the CSE Labs Forum will no longer be supported. We recommend becoming familiar with Moodle which will replace these resources. We will continue to support course websites and course email lists, but users are strongly encouraged to look into similar features available through Moodle whenever possible.

If you need help getting started with creating a Moodle page for your course, please look at the Getting Started With Moodle help page for a complete list of tutorials on how to obtain the same resources through Moodle.

GRIT

GRIT stands for Grade Retrieval for the Institute of Technology, and is a helpful tool for students and TAs in many CSE courses. It is a program that allows TAs to enter grades through a command-line interface which are stored and made accessible online. Here, students are able to view their individual grades, along with averages, weights, and an up-to-date percentage of how they are doing overall in the course.

TAs: For more information on how to activate GRIT for your class, please see the GRIT Help Page.
Students: Enter your x500 information at the GRIT 2.1 Viewer Page for access to your entered grades.

Forums

The CSE Forum is a resource for CSE course students to communicate with other students, TAs, and Professor. A Forum can be created for any CSE course and will last the entire length of the course. It is only accessible with a valid UMN x500 username and password, so it remains a safe environment for students and TAs to post questions and/or comments about the course.

TAs: Check out the Forum Help Page for information on how to obtain and moderate a forum for your course.
Students: Login at the CSE Forums Home Page and navigate to the course you want.

Submit Tool

The Submit Tool is an online program that allows students to submit assignments directly through the web. For more information on how to set-up, access, or submit files, see the Submit Tool Help Page.

Course Website Templates

This system was implemented to allow faculty and TAs to easily follow the University's standard web templates when creating their course websites. Check out the Course Website Template Page for more information.
